Background & Client: Homeowners in Coon Rapids, MN
Our client for this project was located in Coon Rapids, a suburb just north of downtown Minneapolis and quite close to our headquarters. We had never worked with this client previously, and at the time of planning their project, they were hoping to find a siding installation expert that was well-versed in James Hardie products.
By searching via the James Hardie Preferred Contractor program, they found us, an after vetting our team and completing a consultation, they were eager to get started and put our intricate knowledge of these siding products to use.
Getting the Perfect Look
When it comes to planning a beautiful home transformation, getting the right aesthetic is essential. Many homeowners come to us with a clear idea of products or colors, while others are hoping for us to lend our product knowledge and help find the perfect look.
For this project, we took an active role in choosing the right siding style and colors for this home. While the homeowner knew they wanted James Hardie products, they didn’t have in-depth knowledge of the complete catalog of options. After narrowing down the options, the client opted for a combination of James Hardie Plank Siding in Boothbay Blue and Shingle Siding accents in Iron Gray. We also decided on trim, soffits, fascia, and gutters in white to provide contrast with the blue and gray tones.
Before: Siding in Disrepair
This client reached out to us because their siding and other portions of the property had reached a state of disrepair. The siding had become faded and stained, as well as showing clear signs of damage. The gutters were also in need of replacement, and the fascia and soffits were deteriorating as well. Before getting started, much of the existing siding had rotted, allowing moisture to get into the home and reach underlying layers of the exterior.
After: A Full Property Facelift
The end result of this project was quite stark. Homeowners have been loving the Boothbay Blue siding from James Hardie, and we can hardly blame them. This siding provides a beautiful color without being too in-your-face, and in combination with the subtly different gray tones and the contrasting white trim and gutters, we were able to achieve a cohesive aesthetic for this home.
During the project, we solved a few different challenges. As this was a twin home, we coordinated between this and the neighboring unit, albeit in different color schemes. The property also had a wall that was uneven and needed to be reframed and resheathed before completing the siding installation. Overall, though, the entire project turned out wonderfully.
